What Do We Believe About Ministry to Children? We Believe...
children are important to God; therefore they are important to us.
moral values are learned and established as early as PreSchool.
we can change the statistics of young people leaving the church after they finish school by engaging kids and helping them to fall in love with Jesus and His church.
that God’s plan for ministry to children is the primary responsibility of parents.
we are intended to partner with parents, to encourage and equip them in leading their children spiritually.
that to serve and lead children we must consider their unique needs.
children should leave every kidz experience having learned something they can take with them and live out.
in facilitating and encouraging continued learning throughout the week - it's not just a Sunday Faith.
What Do We Value in Ministry to Children? We Value...
ALL children. Every child will be accepted, valued, affirmed, included, encouraged to participate and learn.
spiritual, emotional and physical safety of children – a child can’t learn if they don’t feel safe.
basic faith skills that help kids learn and grow in their knowledge of God (Bible Skills, Scripture Memorization, Prayer, Evangelism, Worship)
experiences. Experiences make memories. Kids may not remember something they heard or read but they WILL remember what they experienced for themselves.
different learning styles of children – we will teach in a variety of ways so that all children have the opportunity to learn.
relationships – kid to kid, kid to adult, kid to Jesus.
age appropriate teaching. We will teach each age at a level that they can understand and comprehend.
relevant teaching. We have to continually ask ourselves - "How does what we are teaching today relate to a child’s world?"
life application. Can kids use what we are teaching today in their real world tomorrow?
creativity. God and his word never changes but our methods have to change to engage kids.
consistent behavior expectations and discipline that does not single out the disruptive child yet considers the needs of all to learn without unnecessary distractions.
preparing kids at each stage of their spiritual development for the next stage of ministry.
FUN! We want to make the time we have with kids to be the best hour of their week! Besides, volunteers want to have fun too!
